Usually crepe myrtle is among the last plants to leaf out in the spring, waiting until the soil has warmed and the weather is settled. This is a bit of a conundrum. Since it is growing, you do need to put out in full direct sun. If possible, put it in a sheltered location with wind protection as this will be a bit warmer. Since it is still very early in the season, you will also need to protect it from frosts and freezes. Since it has been indoors and leafed out, you should gradually increase the amount of sun it receives. Begin with a few hours of direct morning sun and work up to a half day, then put it out all day. This will avoid sunburning the foliage. Also, if it needs any pruning, this is the time of year to do that. It sounds as though your garage may be a bit on the warm side for winter storage, it should be about 35 to 45 degrees. Good luck with your crepe myrtle!
