| HI WE HAVE A WELL ESTABLISHED JAPANESE MAPLE,LAST YR WE DECIDED TO REARANGE THE GARDEN NOT TOUCHING OR MOVING THE MAPLE. ALL WE DID WAS TO MOVE 2 SHEDS THAT WERE AT THE SIDE OF THE PLANT.WE REPLACED THESE WITH A GAZEBO. LATER LAST YR WE NOTICED THE LEAVES CURLING UP AND FALLING OFF.WE ARE NOW IN APRIL AND THE LEAVES HAVE NOT STARTED TO GROW BACK. HELP DESPARATE ADVICE NEEDED THANX. |

Or it might have compacted the soil, causing root problems. These types of environmental change can cause stress and if severe enough, kill a tree. But it is also possible that the problem is not related to that at all, and instead is a disease or pest problem. I would suggest you consult on site with a professionally trained arborist who specializes in ornamental trees and see if you can piece together what has happened and determine what might be done to save the tree.
