The Q&A Archives: Removing metal edging

Question: We bought a house that has metal edging with stakes holding it. What is the best way to remove it?
Thank you!

Answer: Rekha,

Water the area to soften the soil if it is dry. Then use a grubbing hoe or other such tool to get under the edging (below the soil surface) and lift it up on one end. There are stakes along the ending to hold it down. Continue to move down the edging lifting it up as you go. It helps if someone does the prying and another person holds the end of the edging up providing a little lift pressure on the edging.
