| I planted a everblooming gardenia in our front lawn. it gets full sun all day long, I have plenty of pine bark around it. and water it ever week about an inch of water. | William, Getting a new plant started successfully can be a challenge especially once the weather starts to warm up. Don't let the root ball dry out in the planting process. Don't put fertilizer in the planting hole unless it is slow release type fertilizer as regular fertilizer can burn the roots. Firm the soil in around the roots and water it in well at planting. Then try to keep the soil moist but not too wet. It sounds like you may be watering it too much if that soil is not really well drained. It is difficult to say how much or how often to water as soils, temperatures, etc. all play a part. Dig down a few inches and feel the soil around the root ball to see when it is starting to dry out or when it is still moist. That's the best guide for watering. Thanks for the question.
