This is a old butterbean seed saved for years by my father the bean is white with a pink eye. When you cook the bean it turns light green. This bean is very easy to shell and has 4 sometimes 5 beans in the pod. Can you tell me the beans name?

It's hard to say from a description which butterbean variety you have. There are many types as you know. I'd suggest contacting the following organization of seed savers. They literaly carry hundreds of varieties of beans and perhaps they can help identify this one. Seed Savers Exchange, 3076 North Winn Rd., Decorah, IA 52101, 319-382-5990.
