I just purchased a Monrovia Windmill Palm and would like to plant it close (within 3 feet) to the house. Is this too close to the foundation or is the root system compact? Thanks.

The top of your windmill palm will eventually reach 8' across so make sure there's plenty of room for it to grow upwards. Rooflines and overhangs can cause some problems as trees grow! I'd plant it 6-8' feet away from the house just to make sure the roots have ample room to grow without crowding and without invading the foundation of your house.
