I have an area near the front of my house, just outside of a flower bed, where I want to plant something tall to cover up electrical boxes and add a bit of color to an otherwise very green landscape. The temperatures can get pretty hot here in Austin, TX also. |
Ellen, I like the Yellow Bells (Tecoma stans) varieties 'Gold Star' and 'Orange Jubilee'. They die to the ground in winter but return in spring, reaching about 6 feet tall. For an evergreen you might try a columnar type of juniper or a clumping bamboo. Another option is to put in a trellis and plant an evergreen vine. Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon! |
