Every year we place a colorful garden of pots around our pool and every year we have to move the flowering plants out to prevent fallen blossoms from littering the pool and deck. Mid-summer we are infested with aphids and tiny white, flying parasites that are difficult to control. Are there any colorful, non-messy plants that don't attract aphids and these little white bugs?

Gina,

Good question! Pretty plants are often also a bit messy. You might try perennial hibiscus (not the tropical types), yellow bells (Tecoma stans), Oleanders (plants are poisonous), or perhaps bottle brush plants.
