The Q&A Archives: root structure

Question: does the root structure on blue aptos seqouia trees go straight down or does the roots spread and may cause damage to a house slab foundation?

Answer: The roots of your Sequoia will grow in the top 12-24" inche of soil and extend out one to one and a half times the diameter of the tree. Make sure to give your Blue Aptos plenty of room to grow without crowding. Coast Redwood trees can grow quite large so plant it as far away from your house as possible.
