This spring is the first year that I have noticed brown spots on the leaves of my Newport Dwarf Escallonia that I have planted in a container on my deck. Could this be blight? What can I do to fix the problem? Thanks for your help.

Escallonia is generally insect and disease free so I'm not sure what might be causing the brown spots on your shrub. If only a few leaves are affected, pick them off and destroy them; if many of the leaves are affected, prune the shrub back to healthy growth. It will respond by developing lots of healthy new shoots and foliage. Best wishes with your garden!
