I am thinking of planting a Carolina Laurel on the side of my house, right next to the garage door. there is only 4-5' that separates my house from the side of my neighbors house. Is this shrub a good idea? How tall will it get? Does it get wide? What else might you reccomend that has soft, year round green leaves? Thanks! |
Thomas, It is going to be too large for that spot since even the more compact variety Bright N Tight grows at a moderate rate reaching 8 to 10 feet tall, 6 to 8 feet wide, larger if untrimmed. Depending on how tall you want the plant to be you might consider the following: SIENNA SUNRISE? HEAVENLY BAMBOO DWARF HEAVENLY BAMBOO (Nandina domestica 'Compacta') BLUE CONE ARBORVITAE (Thuja orientalis 'Blue Cone' ) DWARF GOLDEN ARBORVITAE (Thuja orientalis 'Aurea Nana') Thanks for the question.
