WE HAVE LONG NARROR AREA THAT I WOULD LIKE TO PUT EVERGREEN IN IT IS VERY SHADY. WHAT WOULD YOU RECOME. THANK YOU LINDA BERRIOS |
Most evergreens really prefer full sun or at least a half day of direct sun. You might try the "Schipka" cherry laurel or the Japanese holly called "Sky Pencil" in that type of spot, or possibly a fence covered in the evergreen vine English ivy. These are fairly shade tolerant. Or you might use the delightful Himalayan Sarcococca as a tall groundcover, or even the traditional groundcovers such as periwinkle or pachysandra. Your local county extension and professionally trained nurseryman may have other suggestions based on a more detailed understanding of the growing conditions at the planting site and your overall design goals. |
