The Q&A Archives: Care On Crotons

Question: I Have a Beautiful Croton, that I wanna keep ,as was from My Grandmother's Funueal,am wondering if it can tolerate the out doors, and if so,where is best location?????

Answer: Linda,

It can take the outdoors but not your winters. I suggest putting it in a large pot and and then in a very bright dappled shade location outside. Then over the course of a couple of weeks move it to a morning sun, afternoon shade location. In another couple of weeks you can then move it to a full sun spot if you wish. Too much sun too suddenly can cause leaf burn but it should with time be able to take full sun. When the temperatures drop into the low 50 begin to gradually acclimate it back to an indoor location for the winter.
