The Q&A Archives: cold burn

Question: In the hardening off process, I left my tomato plants out a little too late into the evening and they got a little

Answer: If the tissue is badly damaged it will not recover, so any mushy parts should be removed. In a few days you will be able to see what else is beyond saving -- it will discolor -- and trim that off as well. Ideally tomatoes should not go below 45 to maybe 40 degrees. I'm sorry about your tomato plants!
