I am starting my first garden. I had everything labled but when I put them in a flower bed I lost track of what was what. Some are growing beautifully, yet others are taking awhile. Is there anything I can do or do I need to wait this process out? |
Congratulations on starting your first garden! Transplanting is a "shock" to a plant's root system, and it can take some a bit longer than others to perk up and start growing. Since some of your plants are doing well, it would seem that you are off to a good start in the care you are providing. Maintain consistent soil moisture (not too wet) while the root systems establish. As temperatures increase, you can maintain soil moisture by layering several inches of organic mulch (such as compost or chipped matter) around the plants. Depending on soil fertility, they may need fertilizer later in the season. Feel free to send other questions to the Q&A as you get deeper into gardening! |
