Eradicating blackberry is an ongoing task. Digging the plants out is tedious but usually successful. However, the seed left in the soil will germinate. The plants can be treated with the herbicide Round Up (glyphosate). The most effective time to use herbicide is when the plants are in active growth (March/April) and it should be followed up with a second application in the fall. Be sure to read and following the label directions.
