| Ruth, There is no need to "kill" them as pine roots will not resprout. You can either add some soil to the area to cover them or dig them out or have a stump grinder grind them out all of which are going to take a little time and effort. I guess you can also just lay the sod around them and in time they would decay away. But then you'd have something to trip you up when you walk by! Thanks for the question.
