I purchased a weeping cherry (snowfountain) and am wondering where to plant it in our yard. Its a memorial for our cat and the place I wanted to plant it may be too shady. It gets sun from mid afternoon.

Its also close to a fence.
Does it need full sun or is partial sun ok?
Can I plant it in a container?

thanks

You can keep your weeping cherry in a container for many years but you will have to repot it as it outgrows its container, graduating up to larger and larger containers as the years go by. Weeping cherry will perform much better and have fewer insect and disease problems if grown in full day sunshine. Only a few hours of afternoon sun will stress your cherry tree so plant it in full sunshine for healthiest growth.
