| Hello, I'm looking for some suggestions of pretty, maybe flowering trees that do well in wetter soils, or soils with poor drainage. The area is the west rim of the willamette valley, in Oregon. We've tried a dogwood and that did not work. Any other suggestions? What about a larch or pine tree for the evergreen option? |
| There are a few trees which thrive in wet soil and some are suitable for your growing region. You might consider Liquidambar (Sweet Gum); Magnolia; or red maple. Liquidambar does not flower but reliably produces brilliant fall leaf color. Evergreen choices include hemlock, balsam fir or cedar. Hope one of these is just right for your landscape. |
