The Q&A Archives: Poppies

Question: Will the Australian Poppy, Papaver nudicaule, thrive in Southeast Texas? When should we plant the seeds?

Answer: Poppies love warm weather and bright sunshine. Plant your poppy seeds as soon as spring arrives, about the second week in March. Poppy plants may die back in mid-summer but will resprout and grow rapidly during the fall months.
