| I bought a Monrovia Alphonse Karr bamboo plant last year and it was not cheap. It did very well all last year on the patio, in the pot I transplanted it to. It spent two months on the garage during the coldest part of winter and received very little light, mostly indirect, but it was watered regularly. The stalks and leaves turned beige. Some of the stalks are completely dead, and I have pruned them back. I moved it back to the patio 3 weeks ago, added Miracle Grow fertilizer and a good soak. It remains basically dormant and has not really responded to more sun and fertilizer. There is a little green growth on some of the mature stalks, but not much. I don't even think it is new growth. Much of the stalks appear to be dead, yet there are a few green leaves on the tips of some of the branches. Should I do more pruning? Help, please! |
| Cheryl, I would not do more pruning just yet. Give it a few more weeks to recover and respond. Then prune out anything that looks dead. If you kept the plant adequately watered over the winter it should be fine. I assume the garage area did not go below about 15 to 20 degrees so it should not have been cold damaged.
