The developer put in a screen of evergreen trees in December, 2003 when we bought the house. I don't know what kind they are, but they have long needles. They're 8' - 10' high and are more round than cone-shaped. I'm wondering if I should feed them and if so, what I should feed them. The soil is very hard clay. I've read in your FAQs that certain types of evergreens should not be fed. Thenks for your answer.

Without knowing what kind of tree you have it is difficult to make a recommendation. Most trees do not need extra fertilizer if for example they adjoin a lawn area that is being fertilized regularly. If they are growing well, I would not worry about feeding them. However, the best way to determine whether or not to fertilize and how much, is to run some basic soil tests and check the soil fertility. Your local county extension should be able to help you with the soil tests and interpreting the results with an eye on these trees. They should also be able to help you identify the trees. I'm sorry I can't be more specific for you but I hope this helps.
