The Q&A Archives: Pruning Dead Bloom

Question: Should I prune the dead blooms on the Monrovia

Answer: You may deadhead or trim off the faded flowers on Knock Out if you want to but it is definitely not required. If you do it, cut to maybe just above the first leaf on that stem. You want to leave as much foliage on the plant as possible so it can photosynthesize to the maximum. (You do not have to count leaflets as one might on a hybrid tea to encourage larger sized, longer stemmed blooms. This removes too much foliage for this rose.)
