I need to know when to plant tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, lima and green beans, and potatoes; also, when do I start seeds indoors?

You should start your seeds in the house 6 to 8 weeks before time to set them in the garden.

If you plan to start lima and bush beans in the house, you should use peat pots so that the pot and all can be set out. These vegetables won't tolerate their roots being disturbed. It would probably be better to sow your beans in the garden at planting time.

Planting times for:
Potatoes Jan-Mar.
Beans (snap and lima) Mar-Apr.
Cucumbers Feb-Apr.
Squash and Zucchini Mar-Apr.
Sweet Corn Mar-Apr.

In Duval County, I plant my tomatoes in the garden after March 15. Seldom does North Florida have frost after this date. Tomatoes can be planted earlier if there is some way to protect them if there is a frost.
