| Good Morning. Thank you for your response earlier about the gum ball trees (sweet gum). I have another question, I took your advice about asking a tree expert about the condition of the gumball trees. It seems as though they want me to cut them all down. I wanted your expert advice as to how long does a gum ball tree live? one of the tree's roots are expose very high. I believe the roots are the ones holding the tree (it they are all above ground to the point where you can trip over them). Is this 'bad news'? Or if I put enough mulch down will this keep it in place? Do gum ball tree grow fast or slow? Thank you very much, have a great day! |
| Liquidambar trees are moderate to fast growers and have a long life - 30-50 years under normal circumstances. If your trees are injured or diseased, or if they present danger to structures or people, they may need to be removed. Surface roots are a natural occurrence as the tree ages.
