| I have 2 silver dollar Eucalyptus. Both were planted last year, in the same soil, at the same time and were about 6' when planted. They are now over 10'. Both were healthy until a couple of months ago. Then, one of the trees leaves all started turning red. Then, the leaves started falling off. Soon, the tree was almost completely without leaves and the remaining branches have all turned red. The other tree appears to be in fine condition, but I'm worried that it may do the same thing. Is there anything I can do to save the diseased tree and prevent the healthy tree from getting sick? Thank you. |
| Eucalyptus are constantly shedding leaves, which turn red before they drop. It doesn't sound good when all the leaves drop at one time, but it doesn't necessarily mean the tree is completely dead. I'd wait to see if it produces new leaves in the next few weeks. If not, I would suspect a root problem - overly wet or poorly draining soils can suffocate tree roots; not enough water can kill trees, as well. Eucalyptus are relatively disease free so I don't think you have anything to worry about in terms of a disease spreading to your second tree. Hope your tree produces new leaves! |
