My friend just gave me 3 stems of corkscrew willow with some roots.I have a very shaded yard, with limited sunny areas. Is it a fast grower and what is the best location |
Corkscrew willow (Salix matsudana `Tortuosa') needs full sun and does best in moist or even wet soil; it grows quickly to be a rather large (in the range of 30 feet tall, 20 feet wide) and has wide spreading roots as do most willows. It tends to be brittle and is subject to breakage in strong winds or ice storms. If you have a small area, it may not be the best tree for you. |
