The Q&A Archives: Orange aphids?

Question: Are the orange (tiny) bugs with black spikes on their back aphids, that are all over the new growth on the oleander? I am not sure and a friend that they might be lady bug I kill them off or not?

Answer: If they are orange and flat black, alligator shaped with little spikes on their backs they are ladybug larvae. Don't kill them - but watch them carefully and you may be lucky enough to watch their transformation into adult ladybugs. It's an amazing sight!
