The Q&A Archives: Ash trees

Question: Why is it important not to transport firewood from Ash Trees?

Answer: Ash tree wood can contain the larvae of ash tree borers. This is a pest that's difficult if not impossible to control. If you transport the wood, you could be carrying the beetles which could then infest local stands of ash trees. It's best not to transport the wood, even for use as firewood.
