| We have a rectangular slope in front of our home & we are in the process of planting shrubs. At the top of the slope we have placed rows of andorra junipers, followed by rows of rose glow barberry, & followed by rows of blue rug junipers. We are looking to add some color at the bottom of the slope but are concerned about the moisture at the bottom of the slope. We were thinking of phlox or lantanta. Wanted to get your opinion. |
| Paul, That sounds like a beautiful area indeed. Lantana would be fine but you would want to get a fairly short variety such as New Gold. Phlox would also be fine but may be a bit tall and hide the rug type junipers. It also may suffer more from mildew with all the extra moisture. I think you should consider what you can do to reduce the excess moisture at the bottom of the slope. There are options for internal soil drainage pipes and certainly watering in moderation upslope will help. Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon! |
