We are finishing landscaping on a commercial bldg. We bought a tree from AB Seed in Greensboro this week. The guy called it a faget(?sp) oak and said it was a new variety. It kinda looks like an oak with rounded small deep green leaves, more pyramid in shape. He said it would only reach appx. 4-5 feet wide and 20 ft tall. It had a Monrovia wrapper on the base. Can you identify this tree or tell me something about it? |
Monrovia sells an oak with the dimensions you describe. It's called a Columnar English Oak (Quercus robur 'Fastigiata'). If this is your tree, it has narrow, upright branches as a young tree, a broader pyramidal form with age. Dark green leaves hold color into fall before dropping. It grows in full sunshine and should be watered deeply when the top 2-3" of soil dries out. |
