We are planning on repainting our house this summer, but I would also like to redo my flower beds. Does it make any difference which I do first? |
It really will make a difference to your plants! Paint your house first and then renovate the garden beds. That way you won't compact the soil by walking all over it, and existing plants won't be in the way - or accidentally stepped on, or spattered with paint. After you've finished painting you can add some organic matter to the flower beds (aged manure, compost, leaf mold or peat moss) and work it all in. That should make the soil light and fluffy; just what the plant roots want. Then plant your favorite annuals or perennials or shrubs. They'll look spectacular against the brand new paint job! |
