About three years ago my dogwood(I don't know what kind it is, but it has white flowers.)started to get this green moss and the bark started falling off. This year it is still happening and getting worse. It did bloom but it seemed sparse. The new small twig like branches that had grown did not get leaves and now they are dead. Can you help? I would hate to see it die.

Unfortunately it sounds like your dogwood tree is in decline. The falling bark is a serious problem and if it goes all the way around the trunk, will kill the tree. I would suggest you consult on site with a professionally trained and certified arborist to see if anything can be done to save it. I'm really sorry about your tree.
