The Q&A Archives: will Katsura do well in SE Massachusetts How fast does it grow

Question: will Katsura trees do well in SE Mass? Any pests? How fast does it grow.?

Answer: Katsura should do well in your area. It is considered a medium grower, maybe two feet a year, but this will depend on the weather and the site. I would not recommend it for a dry site, it does best in soil that is moist yet well drained and fairly rich. Since it has not been widely planted, there are not that many trees to judge this on but it is generally considered to be relatively pest and disease free. I planted one myself, it is a lovely tree!
