Eustoma (Lisianthus) is a biennial, or short-lived perennial. That means it will grow for only two years. The seed is dust-like and hard to handle, but you can start plants from seed by sprinkling them on the surface of the potting soil. After about 2 months they can be transplanted into the garden. Most gardeners purchase plants and treat them as annuals rather than expecting them to perform well in the garden year after year.
