I am a new homeowner and have been going crazy this spring cleaning flower beds and yardwork. Getting rid of weeds and stuff i don't want and planting things i do. There have been a lot of new sprouts coming up and most i am familiar with but the other day i found some new growth in one of my beds. they are still small but big enough to tell it looks very similar to marijuana. i almost freaked but was able to tell it was not. my mother told me she had seen it before and it was some type of flower, but didn't know what. I have searched the web and have not been able to find anything yet. Do you have any idea? it's roots are not large and it doesn't look like it would get very big like a shrub. I am dying to know what this is so i will know if i want to trash it or keep it. thank you so much!

This might be a type of perennial hibiscus such as H. coccineus or one of the hybrids such as "Fireball" or "Kopper King". You might take a sample leaf to your local nursery or county extension and see if they can identify it for you.
