We just bought some compact burning bushes with buds on them and planted them. We had a frost which killed the buds off. That was several weeks ago and I now have very few sporatic buds that aren't doing anything. Could this be from the cool May we are having or am I losing the bushes? Any advice on what to do?

A late frost can kill the leaf buds but a healthy plant will generate more a little later in the season. Since you've only recently planted your burning bush, it may also be suffering from a little transplant shock. I'd give it a few more weeks of warm weather to recover and begin to replace those lost leaf buds. I think it will leaf out and look terrific - in time.
