Hi,
I purchased 2 pruple fountain grasses last fall, they did great & I cut them down this winter but they have not come back yet..Is that normal or are they dead. There is a straw like stump in the ground. We live in SE NC & the soil is clay like. They did great all fall long then turned brown in the winter, I cut & fertilized in early spring but nothing has happened. I thought they would have come up by now. Please advise.
Thanks
Jennifer

Based on your zip code, you are gardening in USDA winter hardiness zone 7. This plant, Pennisetum setaceum 'Rubrum', is considered winter hardy in zones 8 and warmer. So I suspect it may not come back due to the cold.
