| Hi, I purchased 2 pruple fountain grasses last fall, they did great & I cut them down this winter but they have not come back yet..Is that normal or are they dead. There is a straw like stump in the ground. We live in SE NC & the soil is clay like. They did great all fall long then turned brown in the winter, I cut & fertilized in early spring but nothing has happened. I thought they would have come up by now. Please advise. Thanks Jennifer |
| Based on your zip code, you are gardening in USDA winter hardiness zone 7. This plant, Pennisetum setaceum 'Rubrum', is considered winter hardy in zones 8 and warmer. So I suspect it may not come back due to the cold. |
