| The natural growth pattern of citrus like your Meyer Lemon tree is to become bushy. If you want a single trunked tree, prune off the branch that's forming a "V". You can also prune away any side branches that are growing from the trunk up to the point where you want the canopy to begin. You'll probably need to rub out any buds as they form along the trunk to keep the graft site clean of any additional sprouts and to keep the trunk bare. Once there is a single leader, it should straighten up on its own and staking shouldn't be necessary. Citrus trees are generally not tip pruned (that's where the flower buds will form) unless a branch is out of proportion to the rest of the plant.
