We have a armadillo who has set up shop in my perennial border! (And lawn, and vegetable garden, etc.) He's obviously nocturnal, and we can't begin to find his daytime home. He has rototilled years of work and has to be dealt with; how can we find him, how can we catch him, how can we relocate him humanely, etc. Help!!!!

Well, at least you can be proud of the fact that your soil is healthy - it probably houses a diversity of insects and earthworms, which are the natural food of armadillos. Small compensation, right? Well, there's a great deal of information on armadillo biology, behavior and control at this website: http://hammock.ifas.ufl.edu/tx....
If you choose to hire a trapper, contact your extension service (ph# 205/774-2329) for a reference. If you want to trap the culprit yourselves, contact Gardener's Supply Co. (www.gardeners.com; ph# 800/863-1700) for a Havahart trap if you can't find a local source.

Hope this helps and you can put your gardens back in order!
