The Q&A Archives: Helene Rose of Sharon and Black Walnut Tree Juglone

Question: We would like to plant a Helene rose of Sharon on the southeast corner of our house. However, about 30 feet away are two large black walnut trees. Will the juglone from these trees be a problem for the Helene Rose of Sharon?

Answer: Rose of Sharon is one of the plants that is tolerant to juglone so I think your plant is safe, especially planted 30' away from your trees. Enjoy!
