| I have just purchased 50 gladiolus bulbs and intend to plant them at the front of my house and by the back patio, which are the only 2 places that would accomodate them. I have heard from several sources that gladiolus shouldn't be planted in the same spots year after year, but if I fertilize and enrich the soil each year between plantings, will they grow? |
| Crop rotation is important in vegetable gardens (to break the insect/disease cycle) but isn't necessary with your glads unless you've had some problems in the past. Glads should be dug and divided when they become over-crowded, but they can be replanted in the same bed, especially after the soil is amended with organic matter. You shouldn't have any problems incorporating your newly acquired glads into your current beds. Enjoy your garden! |
