The Q&A Archives: Sm. azalea trees in bloom Sept 30th

Question: I will be designing both interior and exterior areas for a Sept 30th garden wedding. My client has request sm. white azalea trees for dining table centerpieces. Is this possible on Sept. 30th?

Answer: Azaleas grown for landscapes flower in spring (usually around Mother's Day). For your wedding design, you'll need to contact a florist - azaleas can be forced to flower at any time of the year when grown under greenhouse conditions where light, temperature and fertilizer are carefully monitored. A florist can special order azaleas for you that are in bloom the last week of September. Best wishes with your project!
