Is there any cure for wet drop on lettuce? I'm talking about a cotton-like mold that wilts the stem at the ground level.

The problem you are having with your lettuce is called
Sclerotinia Drop. It is caused by a fungus (Sclerotinia
sclerotiorum). The disease occurs when the soil is too
wet.

To prevent this problem from happening in the future, never
plant lettuce in the same place two years in a row. Water
early in the morning and never late in the afternoon. There
is no treatment for your plants that have the disease. It
would be best to remove infected plants and get rid of them.
Do notput them in your compost pile
