My aloe vera plant has gotten so top heavy that it's has grown over to the side. Iwould like to cut it off and restart it. How do I do that?

It sounds like your aloe may need more direct sun, and/or the pot should be rotated periodically, to prevent it from leaning over toward the light. You could repot it into a larger pot, or you could try separating it.

Aloe is usually propagated by separating off the pups or baby plants that grow at the base of the mother plant. Sometimes too you will find roots forming along portions that touch the soil, these can also be separated and replanted.

You can also take an individual leaf, allow it to air dry for a few days, then insert the base of the leaf into a well draining potting mix. Or, you can cut the top off the plant, allow it to air dry for a few days, and stick the base into the soil.

Use a fast draining mix such as cactus or succulent mix, keep it in a warm spot with bright light, and do not overwater it. (Allow the soil to dry between waterings.) Good luck with your aloe!
