| I asked my local nursery to suggest an evergreen shrub for shade. They said to get you Manhattan Euonymus. I saw on your tag that it need SUN - the nursery said that was a mistake on your tag. Your website also says SUN for that variety. I already have rhodos and yews in the area and want something else. Please let me know what else I can plant there - and the correct information about the Manhattan Euonymus. Thank You in advance for your help. Jill Levine |
| This plant (Euonymus kiautschovicus "Manhattan" prefers full sun but will tolerate partial shade, as do the Euonymus fortunei cultivars. In deep shade, it will be very thin and sparse. In a windy exposed location, it may suffer some winter burn and be more deciduous. Evergreens for shade that might add variety to your planting could include Sarcococca (fragrant flowers) and Aucuba (there are some variegated forms). Although deciduous, you might also consider using hostas and ferns for their textural interest. I hope this helps. |
