How early can I plant tomato plants. I am planting in raised beds. In addition, I am plan on using one of the "water walls". They are supposed to keep the plants warm. |
Plants are usually set out after the last expected frost date for your area. Check with your local weather bureau or County Extension Office for this date. The Wall 'O Water, such as the one offered by Burpee, extends that by about 8 wks., meaning, plants can be set out approximately 8 wks. earlier when contained in the wall. For example, if the last frost date for your area was May 10, when using the wall, you could set your tomatoes out around mid-March. You can also extend your fall harvest when using the wall. |
