Two of my tiny tower Italian Cypress bebame brown in few days when it became very hot. There was no rain. They get sun all day including hot Western sun in PM. They are planted in pots. How much should I water them? Should I avoid afternoon sun from the west in Texas? They look very dry. Inner side of the plant appears to be somewhat still green. I do not see any bugs. I do not think they are dead, but they do not good. ( they are dead, but they do not good. (look like golden cypress) Please advice.

Keiko,

It would be best if they did not have to deal with afternoon sun but they do need lots of sun through the rest of the day. They can take afternoon sun if the soil is kept moist but not soggy wet. It is difficult to say how much to water. Plant size, container size, container type, growing media type, temperature, etc. all affect how often a container plant needs water. Dig down a few inches and feel the soil. Try to maintain moist conditions which may mean watering daily or every few days depending on the above mentioned factors.
