| I have a couple Cantone' Aster (spelling?) that have been in the ground for a year. I would love to transplant them. Will it kill them? They are in the ground pretty good and have spread a lot.If I can. When is the best time of year to do it? It is still quite cool and wet here in Washington. Zone 8 Gail |
| Your phonetic spelling made it easy to identify your plant as a Cotoneaster. This sun loving, fast growing plant can be transplanted at any time of the year. The roots will be extensive (this plant likes to colonize an area), but since it's only been in the ground one year, you should be able to dig it out without too much trouble. Expect to find most of the roots in the top 12" of soil, extending out at least 12" in all directions. Best wishes with your garden! |
