Does a climbing fig have deep roots or would something else provide better protection against soil erosion?

Your climbing fig will develop an extensive root system if you water it deeply but infrequently while it is becoming established. It has a fibrous root system which makes it suitable for holding soil on slopes. Best wishes with your garden!
